The Cornelius Group, "TCG" is a privately owned consulting firm founded in 1997 by Dana B. Stebbins and Debra B. Gittens. The firm provides organizational development, business management, legislative advocacy, and economic development consulting services to a broad array of local, regional, and national clients. As Principals, our collective experience across the public, private and for-profit/non-profit industries spans nearly fifty years.
Debra Brewington Gittens, M.S.W., a management consultant with more than 20 years of management experience, specializes in executive/personal coaching, strategic planning, organizational development, non¬profit management, human resources management, and training. Prior to establishing The Cornelius Group, she was a senior executive for a national service and training organization (United Way of America) with responsibility for strategic/tactical planning, continuous quality improvement, human resources management, diversity, and executive search services. Previous employment includes Director, Human Resources, United Way of Central Maryland, State Training Support Coordinator, US Virgin Islands Department of Health, and District Supervisor, Youth Services Administration. With more than twenty years of senior management experience within the public and non-profit arenas, she is a graduate of Howard University holding B.A. and Master's degrees in sociology, education and social work. Ms. Gittens is nationally recognized as a skilled facilitator of large and small groups, as well as a creative event/meeting planner.
Dana Brewington Stebbins, M.S.W., J.D., an attorney with an advanced degree in human behavior and more than 25 years of experience, provides strategic advice in community and economic development activities that accounts for and accommodates the professional, social, and cultural uniquenesses of the company's clients and their business relationships. Additionally, she develops and implements successful strategies for affecting legislative and executive policy and action at the local, state, and national levels of government. Previous employment includes Partner, Wilkes Artist LLC; Senior Counsel to the Chairman, United States House of Representatives Committee on Small Businesses; Special Assistant to the Associate Administrator, US Small Business Administration; Special Assistant to the Chairman Commodity Futures Trading Commission; and Judicial Clerk tot he Honorable William C. Pryor. Ms. Stebbins is a graduate of Howard University holding BA and Master's Degrees in Sociology/Psychology and J.D. (with Honors) from Howard University School of Law. SHe has published numerous articles on public policy issues and is a frequent lecturer at university and professional conferences on economic development strategies.
